The Office - 1

Working at home isn't all that cool really. It might sound cool to those who never did it, but those who have will know better. Other than the obvious negative effect on productivity (hey, the bed is just next door!) and the increased risk of being smelly (shower is optional!) there is also the fact that you can't hire any additional, full-time staff.

Finding the perfect office

What I need:

  • A nice location!. It has to be somewhere safe, clean, a rather upmarket with well known address and highly accessible. You don't want anyone to get mugged or killed on your way to the office. (yes, it happen in my old office, but I am not the victim obviously).
  • Must have windows.
  • Accessible 24/7.
  • Ample parking lot with superb access to public transport.

After spending an awful lot of time searching, went for a lot of viewing, I finally sign the cheque for a nice space in AmCorp Tower. I've been looking around for some time and let me tell you, nothing beat this business tower. The tower anchor tenant is a major Malaysian bank and you can imagine that it is well taken care of. The lobby access is gorgeous. Super high ceiling, slick glass walls and window, nicely done reception desk, polished marble floor AND a mini fish pond with real fish!

There are plenty of car park in the area and most importantly, there is a LRT (Light Rapid Train) station right in front of the building. Considering LRT coverage isn't as extensive as London's tube, this is an impressive location indeed. Ah, there is a nice shopping mall sandwiched between the two main tower with a decent cinemas, Starbuck and rows of decent looking shops enough for me to take a stroll when I am bored at the office.

The space that we rent out is a one story space with a mezzanine floor with a VERY high ceiling, very uncommon for an office. The mezzanine floor takes half as much space as the floor below it and it will be THE BOSS area plus a meeting room. We also have a HUGE roof to floor glass window, which allows tons of sunlight in. Overall, I am very pleased...
